Oasis performed at the free Heineken Music Festival in Avenham Park as part of the Melody Maker Indie Night, alongside The Boo Radleys, Back to the Planet and The Big Geraniums.
During the opening song, 'Shakermaker', members of the crowd began throwing beer bottles towards the stage. Liam and Noel briefly stopped the performance and warned the audience: "We wanna fucking play for you lot, so don't start. We're not fucking dickheads. We're not fucking Blur."
The park's original concert stage was demolished in 2006 and replaced by the Avenham Pavilion.
