- The Jug of Ale at 43 Alcester Road was previously known as the Regent Court and later The Regent before being renamed in the early 1990s. It became a popular live music venue and an important stop for emerging bands, including Oasis and The Verve. From 1992 the venue was also home to the Catapult Club which regularly promoted new and local artists. The pub closed in 2008 despite considerable local opposition and was later converted and extended to become the Tipu Sultan restaurant.
