Oasis were not originally on the official bill, which featured Boyfriend, 18 Wheeler and Sister Lovers. They were eventually allowed to play a short four-song opening set.
Creation Records founder Alan McGee saw Oasis perform that night and offered them a record deal after the show.
Part of the performance was filmed by Japanese student Ayako Misawa, who was studying in Glasgow at the time. She frequently visited King Tut's and recorded several bands for her personal use with a Sony Handycam Video8 camcorder. She generally recorded only the first two songs performed by each group. Her Oasis footage runs for approximately nine minutes and captures "Up in the Sky" and "Bring It On Down". A short excerpt from the recording later appeared in Mat Whitecross' documentary Oasis: Supersonic. The complete nine-minute recording has never been publicly released.
